Conservative Women under Attack

It’s hard being a conservative woman, especially in politics.  You are constantly being criticized for taking the initiative to lead and making the hard decisions that many do not want to make.  Of course, you are often criticized by liberals and the mainstream media as well.  While I am not a politician, I know that being conservative places me at the ire of those who seek to push us back a couple hundred years or silence us completely because we don’t cheer for abortion

Cal Thomas, in his recent Religion Today op-ed, points out a controversy that proves there is in fact a double standard on conservative women.  When former South Carolina Democratic Party chair, Dick Harpootlian, recently said some derogatory comment about Gov. Nikki Haley going back to where she came from, there was no true outrage by those in the mainstream media.  In fact, Harpootlian went as far to clarify his remarks (just in case, there was some outrage that he was unaware of) on MSNBC, saying she should go back to be an accountant, rather than being “a fraud of a governor.”   Where’s the outrage over this comment? As Thomas notes, were Haley a Democrat, I am certain there would have been all kinds of outrage decrying Harpootlian’s remarks.

Four out of five women governors are (surprise) conservative.  Maybe they should all go back to dress shops and make clothes for Nancy and Hillary.  After all, there seems to be no place in leadership for conservative women, and the mainstream media certainly won’t comment on savage remarks, like the ones that went against Haley.  However, conservative women in leadership aren’t going anywhere soon.  In fact, they will continue to lead with strength and iron fists, just like the late Baroness Margaret Thatcher.
